Taking its name from the city of Cordova in Spain, it is said the tanning of Cordovan leather was established in the 7th century and the name now refers to the deep red colour that is reminiscent of the 1930s when the colour was first named in from the Dictionary of Colour by McGraw Hill that beautiful patina and echoes of something very old and very elegant ..not black, not tan, not dark brown but a deep shade of burgundy.
Our new Cordovan colour leather is a beautiful vegetable dyed labour of love, sourced exclusively from cow hides obtained responsibly in Europe. Tanned using a mixture of vegetable extracts in wooden drums and then slowly air dried to ensure a leather that enhances its natural properties and will last a lifetime.
