The Connolly Dispatch: Cap Connolly
Connolly in Saint Tropez for the Summer
The dream that is Saint-Tropez still remains undiminished by today’s glitz and sometimes brash glamour. Go a little out of the high summer season and dig a little bit deeper, and you will find that the charm of this mythical, perfect seaside commune is still there.
The fish market, the streets of the old town, the morning market, sitting at Sénéquier with a café crème, Tarte Tropézienne and the iconic leather sandal, late lunches on Pampelonne beach at Club 55 where Vadim made cinematic history and gave the world Bardot… the rosé is the same, and of course the plane trees.
The trees continue to provide shade on the Place des Lices today, planted in the early 1800s, immortalised by the painter Paul Signac, where games of pétanque are still played every day. So, it’s a personal thrill for me, having spent over thirty years visiting Saint-Tropez, that our Connolly pop-up store, The Shop on the Corner, is open once again this season. And yes, it’s by the legendary Café des Arts, with the daily rhythm and life of SaintTropez unfolding before us. Come and visit and discover not only what we have in store, but what this little town has to offer beyond the swank.
