The Amethyst Flower Vase made by Lobmeyr is made of delicate coloured crystal. The extraordinary shape is inspired by porcelain vases in Baroque times. The process in which this vase is made gives the vase its shape. The glass is blown up into a glass bubble and the hot material is let to hang down the blowpipe, a beautiful drop-shaped glass object is formed. Inspired by this effect, design duo POLKA from Vienna designed a simple, functional series of vases.
Lobmeyr is a crystal factory founded in 1823 by Josef Lobmeyr in Vienna.
