SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW, SOMETHING BORROWED, SOMETHING BLUE
This month we have curated a group of three artists that Connolly have shown over the last few years: all women and all with a compelling sense of female identity .. something ethereal, magical, organic even fecund but extremely complex and disciplined in execution ; that leave no margin for error – the flowing ink lines that pulse across the works of Alba Hodsoll, the technical complexities of firing thousands of individual pieces of ceramic and glass by Lucille Lewin into magical worlds and the beautiful alchemy of Carolyn Quartermaine’s abstracted cyanotypes.
These old friends have given us a breath of summer, in their blues and whites, and even if you cannot visit the show please look at the online catalogue. And then there is our new friend, Frank, with his incredible eye for vintage pieces and cloths . Frank …. The king of vintage style and the colour indigo in particular.... who is showing a limited range of pieces he dyed and upcycled in lockdown.
